Here are five tips to help you make sure life's polishing you into a beautiful gem: Slow down. Yes, we're all busy, and we all have deadlines we need to meet. But trying to go 100 miles per hour in 20 different directions simultaneously will only get you nowhere that much faster. Take some time each day to step away from the grind, unwind, and slow down. Go for a walk. Spend time by yourself. Buy a coworker lunch or a cup of coffee. Or just relax, recharge, and reconnect with the world around you. Of Manhole Covers and Marketing You've probably heard the question asked, "Why are manhole covers round?" Answers vary from the obvious ("because manholes are round") to the more obscure. Wikipedia offers several possibilities . My personal favorites? A round manhole cover cannot be accidentally dropped into the round hole it covers.   The circular shape makes the heavy covers easier to roll.   Round castings are easier to machine lathe than those of another shape and less expensive to produce in a size wide enough for a person to fit through.   The round shape makes it easy to replace an open cover without having to line up the corners.   A round tube holds up better against the earth's compression surrounding it than a shape with corners would. If I were to guess, I'd say it's probably a combination of all these things (and maybe more) that made round manholes and manhole covers so popular. Which brings me around to marketing. The USPS is redefining letter-size booklets. New size and tabbing requirements took effect September 8, 2009. A booklet consists of multiple sheets or pages that are bound by a saddle-stitching, perfect binding, pressed glue or other binding method that creates a nearly uniformly thick mailpiece. The new requirements apply only to letter-size booklets, not larger booklets or unbound folded self-mailers. • The minimum height is 3.5 inches and the maximum is 6 inches. • The minimum length is 5 inches and the maximum is 10.5 inches. • The minimum thickness is .009 Inches and the maximum is .25 Inches. • 3 tabs required, minimum 1 ½ inch diameter, non perforated (currently 1" diameter and can be perforated).

The USPS announced a postage rate increase effective May 11, 2009. You can find full information on the increase here . Did you know there are ways to cut your postage costs? One way is presorting. If you have never heard of presort automation, then you are missing out. Presorting is the process of taking mail that would otherwise not be applicable for a discount, barcoding it, and sorting by zip code to obtain that discount. Many presort service bureaus offer this service for little or no cost, and pass savings on to their customers. You can learn about Data Mail's presort program on our website at www.datamailinc.com/automation.html . Many times, it takes as few as 50 pieces of mail per day to qualify.
